Day #28 - My Little Peanut

I saw your heartbeat for the first time today. You were so tiny and delicate, yet it was such powerful moment shared between us. You get to go to photography class with Mommy and maybe grow up to be a great photographer one day :). You can listen to Canon In D Minor with me when I drive you around and enjoy the beautiful weather outside. I can't wait for you to meet your wonderful big brother and your Daddy. I thank God everyday for sending you to me.
Love you always...
Mommy

Day #22 - Motherhood

One minute I'm crouched over the sink, puking my guts out and the next, I'm reminded of the indescribable emotions that a Mother has for their child. Today was Landon's first day in the "big boy" class and as expected, his shy demeanor is noticed immediately as he observes a couple of older boys laughing and acting silly. I can tell he wanted to join them, but Landon is cautious - always making sure he's comfortable first before he opens up to anyone. On the other hand, his classmate Catherine, is already joining the older kids and being rambunctious like the little social butterfly that she is. Landon turns to me and waves good-bye. I gave him a kiss and turned to head towards the door. I looked back only to see that his eyes started to fill with tears , but he wouldn't cry. At that moment, when we looked at each other, there was an understanding...he understood. I quickly walked away and cried on my drive home. Flashbacks of my childhood started to flood my mind as I remembered waving good-bye to my Mom on the way to school. Even time can't erase these images from my mind. When your child's heart hurts, you hurt. There's no immunity to these feelings. The love between a mother and their child is beyond any other love that a person can experience in their lifetime. I thank God everyday for Landon - he is my soul, he is my life, he is my everything.

Day #11 - Cravings

Let the cravings begin! I have three words to sum up my cravings...sour, spicy, and sweet :).

Day #10 - Has anyone seen Robot?

Kids keep a mental inventory of their favorite toys. They may not play with it everyday, but that doesn't mean they've forgotten about it. Landon frantically went looking for his Robot...he was no where to be found :(. I guess it's off to Toys R Us again.

Day #9 - Birthday Celebration

We went out with the crew again to celebrate Mimi's birthday at Banana Leaf, a Thai restaurant. The experience was definitely memorable because the guys got to watch the Dallas Cowboys play in the playoffs against the Eagles on a 14" in. TV screen...hahaha...it was hilarious!
Despite the slight inconvenience, I thoroughly enjoyed the food, especially the Seafood Salad. My next mission, learn how to make the sauce that was on this salad. I'm salivating right now just thinking about it :).

Day #8 - Dance like no one is watching

I got an email at work from my husband with the following picture attached (courtesy of the IMac camera). Either he needs more work to do or stop reminiscing his clubbing days.

Day #7 - Goodnight Mommy, Goodnight "Eek Eek!"

After a long, busy day, Landon turns in for the night with "I love Mommy AND Eek Eek!". What an unlikely bond, but this only emphasizes the innocent and unprejudiced mind of a child (I despise all worm-like creatures). Eek Eek is the name of his stuffed caterpillar, which was a gift from his Bac Nga :). The name originated from my perception of what an inch worm sounds like when it's crawling on the ground :). From that point on, the name stuck like glue.

Day #6 - Love at First Sight

Precccciousssssss arrived earlier than expected. I fell in love with this bad boy when I first laid eyes on it in the Apple store. This was mine and Curtis' Christmas gift to each other :). I can't even imagine the endless projects that await me as I begin exploring all the applications on this thing. This is a photographer's dream and I'm so lucky to have it at my fingertips :D! In the words of The Little Einsteins..."Let the mission begin!".

Day #5 - Which way to the registrar's office?

As the end of my corporate career draws near, I decided to register for a digital photography class at North Lake College. It was quite a daunting task as I walked through the doors of the registration office and into a sea of eager students waiting for their numbers to be called. I've forgotten what it felt like to be a student again. However, this time around, I get to take something fun :). One of my resolutions for this year is to become a better photographer.

Day #4 - Nothing better than a homecooked meal

My first attempt at making Vegetable Beef and Barley Soup for Landon. He liked it a lot and even paid compliments to the chef with an approving "YUM!"...hehehe.

Day #3 - Part Two, My Christmas Wish

My Christmas wish came true :). No words can describe my happiness. I am beyond ecstatic. I can't wait to tell the family. Landon's gonna be an "Anh Hai"! I think he's going to be a great big brother. My gut feeling tells me it's going to be a girl ;).

Day #3 - I'm a big kid now

I never understood why children have this fascination with wearing adult shoes. Irregardless, it's so dang cute :).

Day #2 - Date Night

On the way to go see Avatar in 3D. The moon will forever remind me of my son. I am missing him already :(.

Day #1 - Part Two, When "sparks" fly

Nothing better than celebrating the end of a decade with some sparklers. For some reason, it always brings out the child in all of us :). My first time playing with the shutter speed on my camera and this was one of my favorite shots of the night.

Day #1 - Happy New Year

New Year's celebration this year was at the Luu's. There was tons of great food and company. We ended the night with a toast to 2010 and of course, some late night poker :).
